Lizzie Wood recognized as outstanding Surf Bagel General Manager

[REHOBOTH BEACH, DE] — Matt Patton, President of Surf Bagel, is proud to recognize the work of Elizabeth “Lizzie” Wood in her role as General Manager of Surf Bagel Midway.

“Lizzie has been a key player on the Surf Bagel management team since 2023,” said Patton. “Her infectious positivity and kind demeanor have fostered a store culture that allows her staff to thrive while making guests feel warmly welcomed with each visit.”

A Seaford, Delaware native, Wood attended Seaford High School and continued her education through Delaware Technical Community College, where she studied communications. She began her career in the restaurant industry at the age of 14 as a cashier at a local pizza shop, where she worked for six years and advanced to the role of shift manager.

In 2016, Lizzie joined Matt’s Fish Camp shortly after its opening in Lewes. During her tenure, she served as a bartender, server, and trainer assisting with multiple new restaurant openings.

Wood joined Surf Bagel as an Assistant Manager at the Long Neck location when it opened and later transferred to Surf Bagel Midway in the summer of 2023. In recognition of her leadership, operational excellence, and commitment to guest service, she was promoted to General Manager in the fall of 2024.

As General Manager, Wood will continue to oversee daily operations at Surf Bagel Midway, with a focus on developing her staff, community engagement, and delivering the high-quality food and experience that guests love about Surf Bagel.
